Large size engines are used in ships for propulsion and electricity generation. These large engines are having different systems like lube oil system, fuel oil system etc. Oil coolers play important roles for controlling temperatures of these different systems.
Oil coolers required to be installed on ships require special consideration regarding material of construction since sea water will be circulated through the cooler as a cooling medium. Due to the highly corrosive nature of sea water, non ferrous materials like gun metal, naval brass and CuproNickel are required to be used in its construction. These coolers are designed for on board as well as off shore applications. These coolers are manufactured under the most stringent quality control norms and under third party inspection agencies like DGQA, ABS etc.
